The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon

This was a cute book!
I enjoyed seeing a black woman being the centre of the story and having the rom-com formula with black people rather than the typical white people. It wasn't exactly revolutionary in writing, nor was it necessarily something new to the genre, but it was a nice fun read that I enjoyed! It was also a new book for me to read considering I always lean towards more serious books (e.g. contemporary, fantasy, drama).
I also want a Daniel in my life... *sigh*
I will definitely say that you should read this book if you're looking for something less serious and just a fun, cute read in the romance genre! :)

I was close to giving this book 3.5 stars but the world building and the last view chapters saved it. I absolutely adored the world-building and the influences of West African culture in the world. Additionally, I loved Malik’s character, the fact that he was a black man filled with anxiety and was quite socially awkward, it was cute

Finally finished this!
I actually really enjoyed this book. I like a good twist on a fairytale and I enjoyed this because it linked to modern times and the problems within the patriarchy.
I would have liked a little more from the ending personally, but overall, great story, especially one to read during pride month!
