always wanted to have a cruise ship romance but i get 1) terribly motion sickness and am 2) terrified of open water and 3) can’t swim so there goes that idea

not only was the resolution rushed as hell but i’m a bit sad that wally didn’t reconcile with his man, i feel like if they talked about their feelings they would have gotten back together

the DEFINITION of a page turner! you could not pay me to read PJO after this. this book has spoiled me for what good world-building, magic systems, and characterization looks like.

AND IDC IF XIO’S EVIL THAT IS MY BABY AND HIS REDEMPTION ARC WILL BE SWEET!!!!

BOO! TOMATO TOMATO I’M THROWING TOMATOES!

PROS AND CONS:
pro - great setting, had lots of potential
pro - loved the “found footage” aspects with excerpts from the script, kenna’s instagram, etc

con - characters are so cookie cutter it makes vanilla look like jalapeño
con - writing was bad, even in the literal decapitation scene
con - alex as a protagonist … boring
con - aggressive lack of diversity
con - characters have no brain (how do you end up in that situation?)
con - that ending was pulled out of nowhere and in no way was it justifiable

i am incapable of disliking a talia hibbert book. i relate heavily to jasmine “would rather die a slow horrible death than talk about her feelings and be real for five seconds” allen

icebreaker, but for people of color.

sue me, but i like icebreaker more…i don’t think i was all that invested in anything in this book. but i did enjoy it (mainly because hockey romances are my thing)

the ending felt like a metaphor … for something i don’t even know. somehow i expected…more i guess? i did love the body horror but some parts felt like i was watching fate: the winx saga.

i loved the added touch of the chapter titles becoming more and more distorted and illegible as the story begins to progress.

i accidentally read this series out of order because i don’t pay attention to anything, but the next one i read will be love & gelato because i had no idea books 1 & 2 were connected and you get it right?

anyway, i see why these books are always being sold in airports. this is the kinda book that those authors in hallmark movies travel to european countries to write (and maybe fall in love along the way).

in conclusion, i’m a sucker for boys with dimples

meant to finish this last night but the prospect of sleep was more interesting. great queer and jewish rep which is something i woefully have not read much of (that’s on me) but you could not pay me to reread this, i’d just be bored. raphael was the highlight!
