I thought I was going to give this book 4 stars but I really can’t bring myself to give it anything less than 5 stars.

Poppy Z. Brite’s prose is devastatingly beautiful, which is something I never thought I’d say about an extreme horror book. More than anything, this book left me with a profound sadness. This is a horror novel about the devastation of the AIDS epidemic on queer bodies physically, socially, and spiritually.
