such a beautiful, haunting book. hamnet’s death and the end were stunningly written.
minus points for
the father cheating and not writing to agnes that had me PISSED
and simply me not understanding most of the words since i read this in english not realising how descriptive the text would be. might read a translated copy at some point! 3/5!

this healed me and then broke me into a million little pieces and i genuinely dont think i’ll ever recover.
this is one of the best books i have ever read, but will never read again. had me ugly crying in the E.R.

be sure to read the trigger warnings before starting this. it can be really really graphic at times!

dude okay alright i have so much to say abt this book

first of all, written SO well so beautifully.
love how richard talks abt him throwing himself off of a bridge. love julian’s little speeches.

second, FUCK Henry. he was a walking red flag from the beginning. though him saving richard and carrying camilla did make me smile and just hnnnggg i have a love-hate relationship with him

francis my beloved

also camilla and charles gave me bad vibes waayy before charles turned alcoholic and finding out about the uhh… not so brotherly kiss.

anyway this got me hooked from the beginning. read it in 9 days which is v fast for me. I ATE THIS UP. there were parts where i wished richard would’ve just shut up like i do not care abt ur silly dreams.
loved reading abt his winter with Leo and their summer before that.
also bunny’s letter to julian will haunt me. i feel so bad for him but he was kind of an ass.

there are so many parts i’ll be thinking about for a WHILE.
CANT RECOMMEND ENOUGH.

”That’s the trouble with living things. Don’t last very long. Kittens one day, old cats the next. And then just memories. And then the memories fade and blend and smudge together…”

I was instantly hooked on this book. Couldn’t stop reading it, not only for keeping me on the edge of my seat, but because of how beautifully it was written.
I hadn’t expected anything of this book, really. I’d heard about it, sure, but this wasn’t at the top of my TBR. So, imagine how surprised I was when shit started to go down (and it went down Fast). I had thought this was just a book about someone’s childhood. That’s it. I had no idea what to expect.
Such a great book. Absolutely love Neil Gaiman and his writing. Keeps me inspired.
