Running Wild by K.A. Tucker
5.0
I absolutely adored the first 3 books of The Simple Wild series, and I adored this one just as much. I know a lot of people had a problem with Marie, but I always felt like K.A. did a great job of toeing the line when it came to Marie and Jonah’s dynamic. In this book, you get a full look at who Marie is, and it’s impossible not to feel for her and root for her.
It was so refreshing to have a female MC who was my age. She was very relatable because of the real-life issues she had to deal with when it came to life, family and work.
What I wasn’t expecting with the story, and really enjoyed, was the focus on the mushing sport and her connection to it through her work. I learned how ingrained it is in the Alaskan community, the controversy surrounding it, and the effort that goes into caring for the dogs. It was also the perfect angle to introduce her love interest, and what a love interest he was!

It’s been two weeks since I finished this, and I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about it.
Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy

This was my second book by Charlotte McConaghy, and I am just in awe of her powerful, emotional stories about women who have a deep connection to nature and animals. Migrations is a slow-burn, character-driven novel told in past and present timelines that slowly reveal who Franny is, the demons of her past, her great love, and what drives her.
Franny’s story is a heart-wrenching emotional rollercoaster, but also extremely inspiring. The bright spots for me were her love story with Niall (who was just

This book was such a joy to read and it definitely lived up to the hype for me! CLo proves once again why they are my favorite rom-com writers. Thank you, @reads.arianna and @bookedwithmay for reading and discussing this with me!

I LOVED this book!!! I was in the worst reading slump and this was exactly what I needed. It brought me so much joy and gave me all the feels. I can’t believe this is a debut novel. It’s a must-read if you love rom-coms.

Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead by Elle Cosimano

I loved every second of this one! It had non-stop action that was morbid, fun, and twisty.
Is it realistic? No…BUT somehow feels like it could be, especially if you are within the orbit of organized crime.
Is it fast-paced, escapist fiction? YES!

This was my last read of 2021, and Christina Lauren can honestly do no wrong IMO. So, if you’re looking for a light, funny, feel good love story with a great message, you should definitely save this one to your holiday TBR.
The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

This novel-in-verse was another top book of the year for me, so I’ll keep this review pretty short—especially since I waited almost too long to write this review.
You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi

WOW! This book blew me away! I mean, I was shook and felt raw with emotion when I was done.
Is it perfect? No.
Do I recommend it with my whole heart? 100%!
And to my fellow romance readers: you MUST add this to your list!!
I think the best way I can describe this book is a romance with teeth.
What I loved most about it was Feyi’s personal journey. It was so unexpected from how it started off and I was pleasantly surprised. In each situation, her actions were thoughtful. It was inspiring to watch her navigate her feelings, stand up for herself, and embrace life—and all its messiness—again.
The writing in this book is so beautiful—full of vivid imagery that says so much by saying so little.
It’s a visceral, heartbreaking and life-affirming story from beginning to end that evokes a range of emotions from shock and awe to laughter and sadness to tenderness and heat.
