overall this was an okay read. i don't rate memoirs since these are personal stories to the author. there were definitely some parts i related to which i enjoyed, and i liked the list of references that the author provided at the end. i do feel like this book is a little all over the place in regards to the different essays. i wish they flowed more together/were more coherent. i do appreciate the authors warnings at the beginning of chapters that contained sensitive material. check the TWs for this one.

this is such a sweet and cozy read. i loved the relationship between mika and the girls so much. the found family aspect of this book was done so well and i enjoyed the slow burn romance. i can't wait to read this authors next book!!

this was a cute and cheesy read, perfect for the YA crowd. it felt a little juvenile at times but i really enjoyed the story and this book is very well written for a debut. i felt like i learned a lot about singaporean/chinese culture through these characters. if you're a foodie, this is a good book for you!

i think this is such a beautiful book on grief, what it looks like for different people, and how to process it. it was also hilarious at many times. i started with the audiobook, which i really enjoyed. i had to switch to the physical book so it took me awhile to get through it. there were some parts that lagged for me and i feel like society has progressed past the need for harry potter references. otherwise, this was such a sweet read that brought me to tears.

i read this for my students book club since it was unfamiliar to me. i think there can be some great discussions with this book and i appreciated the fact that there are parts based on the authors real life experience. i think it would be a great book to use with kids probably ages 10-16.

oliver was insufferable.
i did like this a lot! not as much as agggtm but i still love a good mystery/thriller and it was great for the spooky season. i wish there were a couple pages at the end to kind of wrap it up. it felt too open for me.
