Into the Bloodred Woods by Martha Brockenbrough
3.0
I wanted to like this more than I did.
The writing style and the content didnt quite align in my mind. It was definitely unique, and I loved the stories woven together. But the narration style felt a little young, compared to the intense, sometimes graphic, content that was being told.

Secretly Yours by Tessa Bailey

This definitely has some solid spicy scenes, but something didnt quite click on this one for me. A number of reviews I saw on this said that this wasnt as good as her others though, so I think I just picked the wrong one to start with lol.
The Haunting of Gillespie House by Darcy Coates

May is the month of underwhelming books so far. I like Coates, but this was not a favorite piece of hers. So many good elements, but felt rushed. Understandable given it's short length, but still.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry

I teared up because I enjoyed it so much, but was also sad that it was over.
May have gone out and bought 3 more of her books because of the emotions. But whatever.

Deviant by Harold Schechter

Like a 3.5, but rounding up because Schechter has such a great writing style for true crime that keeps things moving at a good pace.
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Another 3.5. Like so many of her books, I'm conflicted. Unlike some of them, these characters had more understandable reasons and internal conflicts that made them less unlikable in ugly situations. Her writing style is easily digestible for the most part, so I keep coming back to her books when I need a quick read.
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

This will probably be the last book I finish this month, and I'm not mad about it! Finishing the month (and the long weekend) on a high note.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Like with Daisy Jones, I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I cried some more.
Truly ending this month on a high note.
