Not bad, but not quite her usual caliber of "wow."

Honestly, as an ACTUAL history major, a part of me wanted to knock this down an extra rating, because parts of if had me going - inaccurate description of a modern major but okay, and the ending????? A history major would never! But honestly, still a solid literary experience. Enjoyed it 80% of the time, so - yay!

Honestly, this book made me sick to my stomach so many times, but it made sense. There is no good way to write about a 15-year-old girl being taken advantage of by a predator. This book upset me, but drew attention to so many issues that go ignored or become a societal brush-offs within certain communities and institutions. Attention to the change in response that occurred in these situations of abuse between today and 20 years ago is well explored.

So. SO. Weird! I loved every minute of the tale of unraveling questionable reality. Five stars for solid folklore horror.

3.5, but worth rounding up. Slow start, and at times I found myself zoning out during bits of the story, but it genuinely creeped me out and made me cringe with some of the description.
