Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter

Definitely be in a strong mental state if you're going to read this. Solid thriller, but very VERY triggering at times. Amazing forensic detail, and all the characters are painfully human.
Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher

Sarcastic, candid, critical, raw, and humor in all situations - even when deemed "inappropriate" by some. The perfect picture of Carrie Fisher & everything her fans miss about her.
The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

Much better than the first book. Completely understand why people started with this book & thought it was the first.
Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep

This was a fantasy/action/adventure novel that I immensely enjoyed. I appreciated how different the plot was compared to others I've read, especially in regards to different powers people could have. Also loved that the main characters were primarily women, who didn't REQUIRE men to progress their storylines. Not for those looking for romance. For those looking for an adventure with the rare soft moment or two.
The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett

More like a 3.5ish for me - I enjoyed the plotline immensely; what a fun adventure & idea for a story. The characters were just a little too melodramatic for my personal taste. I can completely understand how it works for the genre tho, so it's not misplaced.
Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare

What a fun historical romance! She always appeared on my list of authors to check out based on the other historical romances I've read, but I didn't expect such a different story with that many different plot situations. I'll definitely be reading more by Tessa Dare.

The stories are interesting. The author truly does a great job with shocking thriller/crime stories. While graphic (comes with the territory), the forensic discussion and addressing of double standards in sexual assault cases is solid. My main problem with these, that I had hoped would change after the first book, even though I couldn't quite put my finger on it until this one; I don't really like the main characters. There are a few traits about each of them that are okay, but they all have so many traits that almost negate those things that you pity the supporting characters. At least one character seemed to develop a little more empathy through her past trauma.
Other than that, it was enough of a thriller to keep me reading.

Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

Some of y'all had me worried that i was going to be as disappointed in Colin as I was Benedict! What some called "boring," I personally saw as growth. He was definitely flawed, but he worked toward fixing them - as a man in his 30s should! Loved it! Loved Penelope. Loved Colin. Loved their progression.
Favorite book in the series so far.

In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

Sometimes i like a more gritty thriller. Sometimes I just like a good British murder mystery. This more than satisfied that desire for a good British murder mystery and I couldn't stop reading it. Beautiful debut novel.

Why did it take me so long to get into Tessa Dare's books??? Her humor in her writing is so well timed, that it plays out like a perfectly delivered line in a movie or show. That, to me, is what sets her Regency-era romances apart from others.
