I loved the first novel so much and picked this book up thinking I'd love it as well. The pacing was just a bit too lagging for me personally. I also kept putting this novel down in favor of reading other titles due to the lack action happening. I will say, the major redeeming factor in this book is the characters. They are so well written and lovable. It was a job to spend some more time with them again after book 1.

Such a cozy fantasy, reminiscent of Legends and Lattes. The vibes of the adventure were the friends we made along the way. Found family trope.

Seductive and enchanting! If Caraval was a new adult novel, this would be it. Loved the whole 'say name 3 times' thing. Very Beetlejuice vibes.

A fast-paced tale full of romance and betrayal and magic. I was captivated the whole time. Beautiful imagery, storytelling, and character development. Enemies to lovers, rich world building, and a love story for the ages.

This wasn't my vibe. Emotionally and physically torturing someone in order to mold them into a literal monster was just...too much. Also, wasn't sure what was supposed to be real or supernatural 🤔 Maybe that was the point?

A twist on the "scooby doo" mystery vibe. With a healthy dusting of horror tropes and scares, this was a delightful spooky read for autumn. Absolutely loved all the "Scream" movie references. Enjoyed how self-referential and meta the characters were.

It's a beautifully broken fairytale. I knew once things were going so well halfway in that it could only get worse. I sobbed a lot. Brilliant job.
