this book simultaneously traumatized me and healed me. a HEFTY book, but necessary to truly give Joey the closure he deserved. I am so so happy to have gotten his and Aoife’s POVs in parallel with the Binding/Keeping 13 timeline. there was so much we didn’t see/know that truly ruined my life

I genuinely am so upset that this duology is over. I read both books in two days because I just couldn’t put it down.

This book picked up right where we left off after the OMINOUS ending of the first book. And the story that unraveled had me on the edge of my seat. How would anything resolve?? Who can I trust??

well I sure got the answers I wanted and MORE. not to be outdone by the first book, this one had just as many twists and turns. I was GASPING left and right at what was being revealed. I was riddled with anxiety over the fate over my favorite characters and the precious artifacts that our group were working desperately to protect and preserve.

not to mention the despair I felt for Cleopatra for what she would have gone through, and for the people of Egypt as you see how negatively their country was impacted by those who felt they knew best.

I cannot recommend this book (and this duology) enough and I fear I’ll forever be longing for something else that made me feel the way these books did.

I am so genuinely obsessed with this book it’s not even funny.
I don’t even know if I can VERBALIZE the thoughts and feelings swirling around right now but I want to write this review FRESH.

this book felt so utterly unique. I’ve not read anything quite like it. I absolutely ADORE Inez. She is witty and strong and intelligent and compassionate and kind and BADASS. she dealt with so much fuckery in this book and always held her own. she stood up for what was right, and for herself, and wasn’t scared to do it. I’m obsessed.

She and Whit had undeniable chemistry and impeccable banter. Seeing their relationship grow from rivals/enemies to friends to ???? was a joy that had me kicking my feet and giggling constantly.

The twists and turns in this book as the mystery unraveled had me on the edge of my seat, enRAPTURED. I read this in one day because I simply needed to know what happened next. I couldn’t put it down. I have nothing bad to say about this book and after THAT ending I need to pick up book 2 ASAP.

when I read the synopsis for this book, I was IMMEDIATELY intrigued. A chosen one with star magic?? a handsome bastard prince?? an immortal shadow god? SIGN ME UP. and let me tell you it DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

I DEVOURED this book. it grabbed and held my attention the entire way through. It was fast paced so I never felt bored, but the pace is also one of my only critiques because I wish there’d been more time for the characters and plot to develop. even still, the main characters were quick-witted, funny, and had amazing banter and chemistry (though I will say, some of the dialogue felt a bit cringe - a very minor issue but part of why this is only 4 stars for me).

the world building was effective, the magic and mythology felt unique and refreshing, and I simply NEED the next book because the POVs from a *certain someone* have left me with a million questions.

PLEASE put this on your TBR and pick it up on Jan 7, 2025.

And thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyage for the ARC!!

I absolutely loved this book. I loved everything about it.

The take on the Icarus myth, the world building, the characters, the politics, the family dynamics. ALL OF IT. I cannot find a single flaw.

The pace was perfect, explaining the world and introducing the players and their thoughts/motivations in the beginning, and then really letting it rip once the stage was set.

The writing was excellent; it flowed incredibly well, the dialogue was realistic, and everything regarding the gods/the magic system/the various races all was very easy to understand.

The love story was beautiful and heartbreaking, two people with the same views and desire for a better world but forced to be on opposing sides of a conflict due to circumstance and duty.

I can’t even believe this doesn’t come out until April 2025 because I’m DYING for the sequel already, but PLEASE I beg of you, read this when it’s out.

And thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC!!

I fear I may never recover from this book, in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE.

It was so beautiful, so wholesome, and so HAPPY. A lovely story of two people who find themselves in an unexpected situation, but are so genuinely excited to embark on this new journey with each other and find friendship and love along the way, something they both sorely needed.

This book is also FUNNY. Like, laugh out loud, cackle at full volume FUNNY. Realistic and RELATABLE dialogue, as well. I simply have no notes. And I fear I am truly, madly, DEEPLY in love with Bo.

Please, please, please pick this book up if you’re looking for 356 pages of pure joy and happiness.

Ali Hazelwood I was not familiar with your game. This book was NOTHING LIKE WHAT I EXPECTED, IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE.

there was PLOT, it was FUNNY, it was SPICY (gotta love a knot), Lowe is AMAZING???? Misery is HYSTERICAL??? And kind and caring and lovely and I LOVE HER!! Not to mention there was no hesitation on her end when it came to her feelings which was refreshing because so often the FMC is agonizing and AGONIZING over her feelings when it should just be SIMPLE.

Genuinely I need Miss Ali to write 738374 more books like this (but please finish Bride 2 first tysm). I’ve only read one other book by her, but the way she was able to pivot into this genre from typical contemp romance was so impressive. This book is a MASTERPIECE.

I also just love a little mystery and this one was no exception. Yet again, I stayed up way too late because I couldn’t put this down. I very much look forward to the next book because I *need* a certain something to take place
