The Healer by Virginia Boecker
3.0
Part of my 2016 Reading Challenge - "Book you can read in a day"
Well, I read this one across the span of 8 hours. It was interesting in a way. Most of the time, I come to novellas or short story prequel like things after reading the initial story, so to read "The Healer" before reading "Witch Hunter" is quite something. I had no previous knowledge of this world that it is set in, why some of these characters are so important. But I now have a general idea of where the story for "Witch Hunter" is going to lead from.
Wasn't overly fantastic, but wasn't dull either.
Great writing - loved the first person POV from John Raleigh. . . He seems a very interesting character.

The Goddess Inheritance by Aimée Carter
4.0
3.5 stars.
For the last book in the series, it seemed awfully like a filler. I just don't know about this one. I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but my god did Kate get annoying. Honestly. She was so strong in "The Goddess Test" and "Goddess Interrupted" but in this she was a blubbering mess and all martyr-ish and 'No Henry' or 'Milo Milo Milo' this.
I'm kinda disappointed, but I'm also glad that finally Kate and Hades had their happy ending.
BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT APHRODITE PLEASE?!? no no no. Let's not talk Aphrodite. I just can't deal with that right now.

The Goddess Hunt by Aimée Carter

A short story I think I needed to read before I began "Goddess Interrupted". It's been a year or two since I read "The Goddess Test", so this ebook was a good refresher on the memory.
Unfortunately, it wasn't all that exciting. Pollux and Castor's relationship seemed quite repetitive and I was kind of over it pretty quickly.
There were a few other small things that I was annoyed with, so it rounded this book to an average score (for an average story).

Ok. From my memory, the first book was ok. It got me hooked, but it didn't persuade me enough to read the next book immediately.
However, THIS BOOK did manage to get me hooked and omg Kate vs Hera (I can't use their 'mortal' names. It sounds silly). I'm looking forward to this showdown. And!!! What the hell is up with Cronus and Kate?!? He has like a thing for her?!? I was all for Kate going with Cronus by that point though because Hades was being such an insufferable ass and just WHY COULD YOU NOT TELL KATE YOU LOVED HER INSTEAD OF TORTURING HER EMOTIONS?!??!!
It's ok. I'm cool.
This book probably could've made 5 stars if the writing was a little better and if Kate wasn't so "me me me me" all the time, and if Hermes wasn't trying to be a manipulative jerk, or if Hera wasn't being so petty.

All Fall Down by Ally Carter

Ok. So, I love Ally Carter. Absolutely love her. But the first 100 pages or so of this first instalment of the "Embassy Row" novels was a bit slow starting, and didn't possess much of the Carter charm that I love. . But then it got interesting. And then it got exciting. And it was then that I knew that It was the Ally Carter I've come to read/know and love.
At first I thought the portrayal of Grace was a bit overdone, but man - flashback central at the finale made me realise that of course it's going to be overdone to hide THAT kind of truth.
Alexei and Grace are totally gonna get together, I can feel it. And Jamie is gonna go all macho big brother (I hope).
Noah was perhaps the most genuinely interesting character to read about, and I hope he and Megan get together.
Megan = best for character development.
Rosie is adorable and I love her.
Ms. Chancellor aka BAMF.
The last 100 pages of this book definitely boosted it from a 3/5 to a 4/5
