The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year by Ally Carter

so cute & festive!! such a fun spin on a holiday romance with the incorporation of a murder mystery. I loved our main characters—especially our king Ethan—& found it to be so engaging. There were a few loose ends but overall I love a grand reveal with finger pointing of who committed the crime & this delivered. Felt like an old school murder mystery in that way! Another highlight was the dual pov being introduced later. It was pleasantly surprising & such a smart way to pivot the story. I honestly wish it was longer because I still have some questions around the loose ends lol but mostly because it was so fun I didn’t want it to end :)

what a WHIRLWIND! so many twists & turns. I got so irritated by Inez’s naive ass but overall was such an adventure that I found enjoyable for the most part. I found it odd that the library wasn’t mentioned til halfway through & some things felt just thrown together but it was fun to pick up every now and then as a light flush between my dense current read (the secret history) bc I truly had no idea what would happen lmao

3.5! this was my first book of Osman’s & it was just so fun. the writing is quite engaging; I loved all the short chapters & jumping between characters. It was all the good things of a murder mystery but kept it light. I would’ve rated it higher but I got a little confused at the end when everything was coming to a close. Lost me just a bit! But overall so enjoyable & I’m looking forward to starting the Thursday murder club series by this author

Parts of this were so unhinged but I was gripped from the second I started reading!! I ate this shit up. This is what that book “none of this is true” wanted to be & fell incredibly short with. The mix of true crime podcast transcripts with real time events and some flashbacks was so fun. I can’t even pinpoint why this was so engaging but I truly couldn’t put it down. A quality who did it! I’m so impressed by this. Big fan of Lucy unsure how I feel about *that* scene of her & Ben but overall she’s a sarcastic & unhinged icon. Loved her grandma & loved that it didn’t end happy go lucky. I’m often disappointed by endings of thrillers but this was solid til the end. No more to say other than loved it!
