Pinball, 1973 by Haruki Murakami

A strange but worthy sequel to Hear the Wind Sing featuring many of the same characters. A bit too peculiar at times, and a little overlong, but overall this work is an excellent prequel to Murakami's strangeness. Now on to the Rat #3!
A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami

A very trippy and ultimately gripping read. Takes a dark turn at the end. Sets the tone for the rest of his work. Now on to the Rat #4!

Very enjoyable detective novel. Not t too many frills but fun characters, especially the lead. Definitely will read more in the series.

DFW is one of a very selective few writers tat I've found to be a true stunt pilot with words. Wonderfully funny and enjoyable collection.
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

Highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Chicago. It really gave a great picture of the City back in the late 1800s. Having just moved to Chicago, it's proved a great introduction to its history. The pacing of the book really propels it. When the World's Fair story begins to drag, the Holmes story Ramos up and vice versa. Nothing that's going to change how you see the world, but it'll change how you see one town at least and its a very enjoyable ride to get there.
