The problems in the first one were easy to ignore, but this book got annoying very fast. I found both Xaden and Violet to be irritating af and I really struggled to finish it.
It does take a while to build, but when it does, it’s so. good. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a horror novel with such strong family ties and feelings of connection rather than isloation. I truly loved every character and enjoyed the exploration of grief.
