This love triangle is not the one. No thank you. We sta Grim, and we get that Oro’s not a bad guy and there’s an emotional struggle but girl(!) you’re becoming dislikable with all this ‘I don’t know how to choose’ like pick a lane and stop messing us all around.
Also it’s been a minute since reading the first two but I don’t remember them being this poorly written? Like yes it’s YA and the writing is fast paced and lacks depth, but this one felt like there was limited development of, well, anything. SO much happened in this book because apparently every problem can be fixed in a matter of pages, please do not ask me to repeat any plot points to you because there were far too many and all of them seemed so inconsequential as they were happening. And there were soooo many spelling errors, it was really off-putting. I’L STILL READ THE NEXT BOOK BECAUSE I’M THREE BOOKS DEEP AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS, DANG IT. Also the ending where we learned more about Isla’s powers and her jump into the otherworld to resurrect people was fairly compelling so you’ve hooked me there Alex! Also I’m not being funny but the YA smut in this series is a yes from me, classy but still hot y’know, I actually think more adult reads could learn from the way Aster writes those scenes.

Gloriously complex politics, characters and world building that all comes to its goose-bump evoking conclusion in the third book of the first three books in the red rising saga.
