Read for school - but I really liked this book. Not a huge gothic fan (thumbs down Faulkner), but this was great and maybe this is just because I wanted more but the ending fell so flat.
Like she kisses him for love after he was still pretty complicit in his family’s abuse of people like I don’t think Francis is an evil guy but I do think maybe this ending doesn’t give him enough room to prove his identity outside of his batshit insane family both for us as readers and the main character
