This was really fun! Of course it’s historical fiction and we will never really know what exactly Zelda experienced, but I love her. I identify closely with her struggles and loved walking through her whole life with her.

Average. I don’t think horror graphic novels are really my thing, but I liked the concept of all the keys. This definitely kept me interested.

This was simply not a book for me. The amount of times I started and stopped reading was absurd. It was really giving me reading slump vibes. However, if I’m going to say something positive about it (and I will since I know some people would and have eaten this book up) it would be that the author is very creative. I haven’t read murders like this before. Nor have I read a plot or reasoning for killing like this before! I don’t think that makes up for how convoluted and confusing the whole plot and story structure was, but it’s something.

Since it’s fiction, I know to take it with a grain of salt, but I appreciated hearing about the history and cultural background of Cuba. However, I found it hard to care deeply about what was happening since there were quite a few people involved in the story and the setup was hard to follow at times with the changing perspectives/timelines.

Impeccable! Genuinely such a comforting read despite some of the difficult topics touched upon. I would be happy to enter the world the author has created!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
The way in which I didn’t ever grow to like this book is absurd. I thought the premise sounded so fun and cool and that the vibes would be perfect for summer. However, this book was so hard to read. The word choice was pretentious for no reason. As for the characters, I was constantly lost about who was who and could literally care less about any of them because there were way too many. Then came the scene of the sexual coercion of a minor….. the book just moved on like literally nothing had happened… I’m not even a person who is triggered by that content, but what the hell was that??

I am sure this will sound like slander to most, but this book was difficult to get through for me. It was a bit slow-paced for my liking. I know it stands for important things, and for that, I appreciate it. However, I did not really enjoy this book.

I wish I could give this book 10 stars. My best read this year by far! The story is simply so real. The emotions expressed are raw and nearly every page moved me. Please look up trigger warnings though!!
