Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
5.0
I loved this book so much!! She writes so beautifully. I fell in love with little Kya from the first page. My heart ached for her. I wanted to jump into the book and pull her into my arms. And I loved Tate. He was so sweet.
And all of those beautiful poems. I just love everything about this book!!
I listened and read this book. The audiobook was wonderful.

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
5.0
Oh hell!! What did I just read? This book was so freaking good!! I picked it up in November, but I wasn’t in the right mind frame to read a book like this. So I picked it back up in March. It had everything a thriller was supposed to have. I would put it down and pick it back up. I had to know what was going to happen. I read until I just couldn’t keep my eyes open. I can’t wait to read more of her books!!
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
4.0
I give this book 4 1/2 stars. I could have done with the detailed intimate parts. When I decide to read a YA book, it’s because I want to escape from the harshness of adulthood. When I read this, I pictured a teenager reading it, and it didn’t sit right with me. As parents we are teaching them to do right. Let the sex scenes come later.
On another note, I really enjoyed this book. I do want to read the third one. I anxious to find out what happens to Juliette, Adam, and Warren. I think this would be a very good Netflix series. It has a really good story base.

Blood Echo by Christopher Rice

I gave this 4 stars because I would have liked to see more of The Burning Gil in action. It had a good story line, but just not as much action and suspense as Bone Music. I think we got to see more of Cole. But, Charlie is so bad ass and I absolutely love her. I hope in the next book we get to really see her in more intense situations. Overall the book was great.
White Oleander by Janet Fitch

When I started this, all I could think about was Ingrid. I imagined her in the 70’s, dressed in bell bottoms and a halter top. She seemed very free spirited. But then as I got into the book, Ingrid just became more and more insane, schizophrenic like.
My heart fell for Astrid. I wanted to go save her. The system failed her. Everyone failed her. But she was a survivor. She wasn’t going to let her mother win.
This book pulled at me. I felt like I was living a real life dream. It makes me sad.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
5.0
“The circus arrives without warning.” This is one of my favorite quotes from the book. I felt like I was at the circus. This book was Amazing!! I would love to see that clock. Erin Morgenstern manages delivers excitement, love, suspense, and magic into one book. I can’t even begin to explain what I’m feeling, because I’m still stuck inside the book. I want to start it over right now. I loved this book!!
Sadie by Courtney Summers
5.0
This book has left me broken. Was is supposed to do that? I just finished reading/listening to Sadie, so my feelings are raw.
Trigger Warnings: Drug addiction and sexual abuse.
I can’t really see how this is a YA book. It just had too much hard info in it. I feel for Sadie and I will be thinking about this book for a long time. This book gave me nightmares.
Courtney Summers did an excellent job with writing the book. I loved how it was set up like a podcast. It made it really neat to listen to. At first I thought I wouldn’t like it, but I really did. Sadie had a hard life.

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
5.0
I absolutely loved everything about The Alice Network. Kate Quinn put some really strong women into her writing. I love how she based it off true events. I can’t wait to pick up her next novel, The Huntress.
Her by Britney King
4.0
This is the first novel that I’ve read from Britney King. And she did not disappoint. The book starts out strong with promising to to be a murder. It’s very vague to “Her” is and who will be killed.
Then Sadie and Ann meet in a supermarket and strike up an odd friendship. Each needing something from the other. The book draws you in because the friendship is so unhealthy and as the story goes along the more unhealthy it gets.
There is a plot twist in the end. I can’t wait to pick up some more of King’s novels and see how they differ. This one was short. It was a fast read. Something I needed.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman
5.0
A world were humans have defeated death by ending hunger, disease, and war. Now they must bring in Scythes to control the population.
Citra and Rowen have been chosen as the next apprentice, but what awaits them is not what they imagined.
I loved this book so much. And I can’t wait to pick up the next book in this trilogy, Thunderhead. I feel like this book should be 18 years old and up, because of the amount of violence. This would make a wonderful movie.
