Sepron the Sea King by Adam Blade

The Beast Quest stories are a series of books that I am reading to my children at night. They are not particularly well written, or anything special. However, they are easy to read and contain short chapters well suited to reading before they go to sleep. Also, as there are a series of them it is nice to collect and always good to have a continued set of characters to follow.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss

Again this is another of those Dr Seuss books I remember reading as a child, and now I read this to my children. This is my favorite of his books. I think it's because of the Christmas setting and the feel good factor. Just a all time classic children's book!
The Ice Dragon by George R.R. Martin

Very short but a nice little story none the less. Feels very much set in the world of "A Song of Ice and Fire" although it is said not to be. Well worth a read if you are into that series.
Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss

One of the kids books from their Dr Seuss box set. This one is a little strange, but still fun to read. Lots of repetition and tongue twisting. One of the better Seuss books.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

The book that started it all...!
A great read and very good at introducing people to reading. The first book feels very much like a children's story and as they go on get more and more in depth and adult like. (Much like Harry growing up)
You can tell Rowling was going for the younger audience with the series at this stage and then wanted to go more into it as the fans started to read them!
Even if you are not a fan of all things magic, this is a great story of the life of children going to school and growing up.

Continues where the first left off. More fun adventures and Rowling starts to flesh out the wizarding world more. Also, gets a little darker, a glimpse at things to come.
Still set more around the school days which is what I loved about the stories. They lost this aspect as the books went on.

This is when the books started to fell more 'grown up' and the world became a little darker for Harry.
Great setting and characters added.

Still amazing story going on, but the books started to get a bit large around this one and Phoenix I felt. Still in the school setting and before it all went more into fighting 'he who can't be named'. Good fun tasks and in the words of Ron 'Bloody terrifying'.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

Back to form, Rowling pulled the story back to its roots returning to the school setting and the relationships of the children and the teachers. A much more interesting story and better in length than the previous installment. You get to learn more about Harry's back story too which was nice.
