I thought this was super cute. I love that the FMC was a CIA agent. It was giving Miss Congeniality in that sense but the plot itself was also super fun and exciting. I also liked how the FMC helped the MMC process some of his trauma. Loved it! Super fun and cute read.
I loved it. Loved it all. With so many characters and plotlines and events happening... Everything was balanced super well and kept my interest the whole time! I'm obsessed. ~~ " Indeed, Ruhn said, “Wanna… hear a… joke?” The prince didn’t wait for a reply before he continued, “Two angels… and a Fae Prince… walk into… a dungeon…” "
" Through love, all is possible. Even getting free of death- masks. "
I don't usually love Emily Henry. Her books have been hit or miss for me. But Funny Story.....I can see why it won the Goodreads choice award this year. I had lots of favorites in the romance category and I had to immediately pick this one up to see how it could possibly beat out my other favs. I get it. This one of hers is giving Abby Jimenez vibes. It's done really well. I loved the main character's growth and I love the support they gave each other. It was so sweet and I loved everything about this book. ~~ "Or maybe," he says, eyes crinkled against the sun, "everything worth doing comes with some risk."
Take away all that you know about the Broadway show and remember this was used as an inspiration to create said show. Okay, that being said.... This book was kinda a mess. There was a lot of things that just happened without much of an explanation and it really goes throughout the Wicked Witch's life from birth until her end. That's a long timeline to fit a lot of stuff into! There were so many events talked about but not many of explanations of some plot (if you can call it a plot) points, which led me a bit confused. It was very slow, some parts were more developed than others, but still didn't feel wrapped up in the end like a book should.
I shook my head a lot at this book. I enjoyed it but I also didn't? I don't even know if that makes sense. There were good parts and it was a good story and the main characters had growth but I didn't really like them or any of the characters.
This was a beautiful book! The writing reminded me of Rebecca Ross and Stephanie Garber - fantastical, magical, whimsical. Also loved the strong fmc and fun setting!
Out of pure nostalgia, this will always get a 5 star from me ~~ "About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how potent that part might be - that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."
