Love the story line, but some times the dialogue felt forced.

I understand the hype about this book! I felt like I was reading Outlander at times, as Martha had a lot in common with Claire (her medical career, her strong personality, even her curly hair) and her husband is protective, smart, and loving like Jamie. Add in some murder mystery and great character development, and you’ve got this riveting story.

I really wanted to like this book because the premise sounded great. However, Madden‘s dialogue was cringe worthy. I just can’t imagine a character thinking, let alone saying some of the corny stuff that he does. He ends up being very unlikeable.

Also, Odette is too forgiving when it’s probably not deserved and yet we are supposed to believe she’s a strong female character?
