The Split by Sharon Bolton
4.0
A real page turner! This one kept me hooked throughout, and I was desperate to know how it was going to end. Lots of twists and turns, just like a mystery should have! A good read for any thriller/mystery fans.
The Testaments by Margaret Atwood
5.0
A phenomenal book! I enjoyed this so much more than the Handmaid's Tale. The plot was much more exciting and fast-paced, and it was fascinating to read more about different aspects of Gilead - and how Gilead is perceived in the 'normal' world. The topic of these books is still so relevant in 2021, and Margaret Atwood writes about it so so well. Absolutely brilliant, I can't praise it enough.
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

Better than I was expecting! A nice easy read that adds a bit of fun to a standard murder mystery book. It definitely had me hooked, and I loved the concept.
Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell
5.0
A stunning book. So heartfelt and emotional, the writing is wonderful, discussing grief in such a raw way that I think lots of people can understand. I loved that, despite being about the son of William Shakespeare, the playwright is rarely featured and never mentioned by name, ensuring the story doesn't focus on him or his fame. A wonderful read - I can't recommend this enough!
The Way of Kings, Part One by Brandon Sanderson
4.0
This was a tough read, as there is lots and lots of world building in this book. I love Brandon Sanderson's writing, and I think he is a master of the fantasy genre. However, his books do take a while to get in to due to the lengthy descriptions and introductions to so many new concepts at the start. However, once the plot begins to pick up (which is only slightly in part 1 of this book) it is marvellous. I would recommend Brandon Sanderson's books to every fantasy fan.
The Way of Kings, Part Two by Brandon Sanderson
5.0
A brilliant read! I much preferred part 2 of this book to part 1, as the plot had really picked up and we had a good idea of the world and the characters by this point. So exciting, and I love that even reading this, we know that the best is yet to come in future books. A great opener to the series!
Less by Andrew Sean Greer

A nice easy read with a fun and relatable main character. Would recommend for a holiday or to get out of a reading slump as it's fast paced, but not in an over the top way, and definitely keeps you interested.
Words of Radiance Part One by Brandon Sanderson

Another wonderful instalment of The Starlight Archive! Brandon Sanderson really is a brilliant fantasy writer. I preferred this to The Way of Kings, but only because the plot is much more action packed and fast paced now the majority of the world building is complete. It really feels like things are starting to get exciting in this series now, and I can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the books! Definitely recommend.
The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes

I listened to the audiobook of this and really really enjoyed it, much more than I thought I would! I loved the storyline - The Giver of Stars is a great book about overcoming obstacles, and I think it highlights the importance of books and friendship in people's lives. A great listen!
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
5.0
A fantastic book! Kiran Millwood Hargrave really brings this bleak story to life - it was based on true events, and after reading it I definitely want to learn more about the lives of women during this period in history. The book was so well written and so emotional, and told a beautiful story of friendship.
