I’ve really enjoyed listening to this trilogy. I’m fascinated by this period in history, so these books are perfect for me. Hilary Mantel is a fantastic writer and brings the court of Henry VIII to life spectacularly.

A really quick and mostly easy read. Didn’t enjoy it anywhere as much as the first one though and didn’t really get a sense of the story being ‘complete’.

This was a pick for my book club and I’m so glad it was as I never would have picked it up otherwise! As someone who was born in the late 90s, the AIDS epidemic is something that is so foreign to me that I struggle to picture what it was actually like to live through. My heart broke over and over again for these men and it’s scary to think how recent this was happening. More than anything, that’s what I took away from the book - an eye opening story of what it was actually like. I really liked the way it was written - it seemed more fast paced than some non-fiction books - and I’m glad I took this opportunity to read about Ruth’s work and how heartbreakingly sad the lives of men were at that time.

A book everybody should read!! I was kindly gifted this book but was under no obligation to post reviews or anything. But I have to say I really do think this should be recommended reading for everybody. It was SO eye opening and almost unbelievable in parts. We like to think that, as a modern society, things like healthcare aren’t discriminatory. But boy is that false. I was aware of some of the discrepancies in health care, but seeing how deep some of these things run was really shocking. I’m so glad I read this.
