Despite all the very dated references and 2000s fashion + Capri pants, I thoroughly enjoyed this. I didn't expect it because it felt so unassuming but there's a reason it's been recced by many people.

The hero is as old as the solar system and very grumpy, the heroine taught him to say "please" augh they're so dreamy together. She stole from him but little did they know she also stole his heart (full cheese) this book made me giddy and I felt all the vibes.

This book is a RIDE. The hero with mummy issues pines for a girl 14 years his junior, embraces himself in her bosoms and they have an explosive time together. The heroine pursues her love fiercely and unapologetically which I adore. It also has political intrigues of a fictitious Italian island set during Napoleonic France and spontaneous virgin lactation. Like I said, a ride.

The usual JK insta love variety with the hero being so grumpy and rude to the heroine initially but of course he ate that attitude real fast when he saw her BARE shoulders. He's a Daddy and he protects her physically and mentally as well, giving her comfort and a sense of safety. Augh it's so sweet and of course filthy.

This was my first Mila Finelli and also my first Italian mafia book. I wasn't sure if I was into mafia books after one previous exposure but I devoured this so quickly. It went down easy after accepting the particular mind set one needs to read about macho man strong (fore)arming their way through an inexperienced girl's life.

The hero forced help onto the heroine's failing restaurant? Sounds acceptable. Take her to fancy stores and drop couple mortgage down payments on some bags? Yes bab! Take her from the back when she's not quite awake? Yes daddy! I'm on board.

It does have an overarching high stakes plot but the small town setting made it feel overall cosy and charming. The heroine's restaurant getting a make over was fun and  made me crave for Italian food—the American stuff with overloaded cream and cheese. I loved seeing the heroine try (and fail) to resist being spoiled by the Don hero, who doesn't believe in love so of course he ended up falling hard fast.

And I learned some Italian. Cazzo means fuck or cock? Stronzo means asshole and andiamo is let's go. This book is a hot experience and a language lesson.

Thanks to Mila Finelli and Valentine PR for the review copy. This is my honest review.

Snake man bodyguard who will praise the pants off of the heroine and is sooooo affectionate. He's got two Ds and he uses them well in all the combos that mattered.

I did like they have a deeper emotional connection and bonding but this didn't work for me as well for some reason. The outdoor bangs were lit though.

Heroine tried to start anew, taking a low paying job for free rent and landed in the middle of a messy relationship and a MFF sandwich. What I expected from a Flora Foxglove novella and thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Holy bananas that first chapter was hard, the content guidance weren't kidding on the fatphobia. The angst and the hurt! I loved it when everything clicked into place and even through all the angst, it was a feel good journey because the heroine finds herself and her worth.
