jr ward never ceases to amaze me!!! we're 12 books into this series and the plot and characters are as fresh and as interesting as ever! the overarching “villain” and conflict for this book seems like the kick off to a whole new arc in the bdb world and i’m so intrigued!!! i haven’t been this obsessed and transfixed with the inner workings of a fictional world in SO LONG and it feels so good to be this invested again.

this was beth and wrath's follow up book and getting to be in their povs again was so nostalgic but also so new at the same time! the conflicts were so real and you can't help but still root for them. they continue to love each other with their full chests and i found myself falling for their love story all over again even after 11 books. all i gotta say is: long live my king and queen!!

and the side couples in this book????? let's just say i'm counting down the books until i can read about their love stories hehe

jr ward is an evil genius and as always, i'm locked in for life!!

reread & redesigned version update:

i truly do worship the ground tarah dewitt walks on because what do you mean she made a perfect book even better and more perfect than i could have ever imagined???

the additions to this story felt like they were always meant to be part of deacon and larynn's love story and it just squeezed my heart to smithereens!!!! the "then" chapters added such depth and context to their epic second chance romance and it had me squealing getting to know their angsty teenage lore firsthand.

you cab rest assured however that this is still the story we know and love, but just with some interior updates hehe

to reiterate my original review: tarah is still ruining my life one book at a time! deacon and larynn still invented the slow burn "it's always been you but we're a little scared so let's pretend to hate each other" second chance, marriage of INconvenience kind of love, and it STILL is so perfect.

thank you to st. martin's press and netgalley for this earc, it's out now!!!!

i'm lowk a little sad bc this book did not wow me as much as the first two. the first half had me kicking my feet, but the last half had too many conflicts for my taste. overall it was cutesy and i'm happy to have read it!

oh wow am i blown away!!!! i went into this book completely blind and it captured my heart with every page! i loved the writing and the perfect balance between humor and   somber moments that helped me understand and love the dynamic person that josie is. ugh i love her, that's my girl! as an anxious girlie, i've never felt more seen.

and the romance!!!!!!!!! wow josie and will were truly the perfect fit (hehe). they complemented each other so well and allowed themselves space to grow as people while also holding on to their love and allowing it to grow and flourish. they are the definition of an "understanding love" and it was so wonderful to see how communicative and gentle they are with each other.

i'm so happy i read this book and i can't wait to read more of clare gilmore's love stories!!

thank you st martin's press and netgalley for this eARC, it's out now!

i thoroughly enjoyed this book! it was slow and very historical but also filled with hope. but you don't know how badly i need leigh bardugo to write a straight-up romance. this and all her books are proof that she would be so so so good at it! do it leigh!!! do it for me!!!
