you know, despite THAT storyline, i really enjoyed this book!! i anticipate a lot of fun reveals in my future 

i am stressed out!!!!! 

cute but not my fave! tbh i was more interested in the main couple's best friends getting together in the background than the main couple themselves lmao

i have an announcement!!!! this is my favorite book of the year and i'm in PIECES over it!!!! i'm a puddle of a person surrounded by my own tears!!!!! i'm "HELP I'M STILL AT THE RESTAURANT" because of this book!!!!! 

i fear i will never be the same and it's cara bastone's fault because she has penned the perfect book and i am a sobbing mess because of it. 

i'm bereft now that i finished this book because even though it was a perfect ending to a perfect book, i could have read 1000 more pages about lenny and miles and never be bored or fully satisfied. trust me it IS that serious, i'm actually distraught over how much i love this devastatingly beautiful book. 

and this is a love story, but it's also a story about grief and healing and learning to live again without your person. it's a story about friendship and companionship and the resilience that people possess in the face of losing everything. lenny and miles both face grief in this book and they help each other heal and help find meaning back into their lives. and i could cry just thinking about it! 

lenny and miles. miles and lenny. oh gosh i love them so much!!! ugh i am such a friends to lovers girlie because to me the best part of this book was the slow burn friendship that turned into this deep and understanding love. like those two GET each other and it's my dream to be known like lenny and miles know each other. 

also, on a lighter note: this book was so funny??? when i wasn't crying, i was laughing because of the WIT that cara bastone writes her banter and dialogue. 

this is a what i call a "soul book," a perfect, perfect book, and i'm so happy to be alive at the same time as cara bastone and getting to read her books.

love these alien boys so much!! all they want is someone to love them!! our fmc was a lil too stubborn for a fated mates books but ig there needs to be a variety lmao

this was the most unserious yet moving book i have ever read and i loved it so much! it really makes you think about humanity with more kindness and empathy. like the storytelling was so quirky but also made me sob???? the duality of a book

not my usual vibe with the whole political subplot and secrets and espionage but garret and ethan were so perfect for each other that i could not complain (too) much

BUT i fear west ravenel stole the show!! the way i was so locked in to a side character??? it makes me wanna read his book even more now! 

a certified banger!!!! this series has quickly become a comfort series for me and each installment just gets better and better! 

i love the finlay and vero detective group more than life itself!! their friendship is the star of this series for me and their buddy comedy/investigative duo dynamic is so fun and wacky and everything that a cozy mystery series needs!

this installment in particular was everything i love in a finlay donovan book and more! we got quality finvero content, a great mystery, as well as incredible developments in the romantic relationships for our favorite amateur sleuths!!! two subplot ships in one book??? thank you so much

i also exclusively read this series via audio, so getting to listen to the audio of this book early was a dream! and can i just say Angela Dawe is that girl!!!!!! she does such an incredible job giving every character distinct voices and her cadence and delivery make the listening experience that much better. 

i selfishly hope this series never ends bc i would read about finvero and co for the rest of my life!
