I don’t read much romance, or rom-coms or whatever but this was so enjoyable! It was silly and fun and weird and just a quirky concept with loveable characters. I actually found myself enjoying the romance a lot (I really am not a romance girlie and I only picked this up bc duh vampires) and the dynamic was just so stupid and funny I had a good time! Super super easy to read as well!

God THIS is how you write a gothic horror! Chilling, unsettling, seriously creepy whilst also being weirdly beautiful! Also the sense of madness and not knowing whats happening, who's right, who to trust...SO GOOD! I love a good ghost story and this was seriously an exceptional one, I look forward to reading more from this author. Big Crimson Peak vibes as well, so if you like that movie read this book!!

This feels so much like OLD paranomal teen romance and I LOVED it! If I was judging it by 2023 YA standards I’d be like um no but I went into it being told it’s silly, angsty and cliche like 2010 vibes and I think that made me enjoy it more, my expectations were on the floor so I was pleasantly surprised!

It’s like Vampire Academy and House of Night vibes and it seriously was a lot of fun. I thought it was funny there was references to Legacies because man this feels a lot like that show too, it feels how teen books used to feel when I was younger and I forgot how much I missed that!

I know a lot of people didn’t like this because it’s cliche and the writing is a bit naive but that just added to the nostalgia I felt for it even though it’s the first time I’ve read it. I think it just brought me back to the angsty twilight teen phase, and the parallels were pretty strong tbh.

I was quite hesitant at first and don’t get me wrong there is a bit of cringe with this book but honestly I’m here for a fun time and enjoy books I don’t have to think too hard on or try too hard to read so this really hit the spot to bump my reading goal in an weirdly enjoyable way.

That end 20% of the book??? FLOORED ABSOLUTELY FLOORED!

God I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did by the end, it took me a while to get into it and I started to get a bit bored around like 40% as it got pretty slow…but I’m really glad I stuck with it! The end half of the book alone is worth it!

The concept was really cool, very hunger games meets cyberpunk and Calla was a really cool MC. I love the idea of body jumping in this and it’s seriously used so well, it’s such a cool concept! There were a lot of twists in the end of this book that I LOVED and I can’t wait for a sequel, I need it NOW especially with that ending!

Solid 3 for me on this I think. I was pitched it as a cute soft romance and uh that wasn’t what I got but it was good nonetheless. The plot was interesting, the lore was a little weird to get into and I almost put it down near the beginning but I enjoyed the story overall. I probably won’t read more in the series but this was pretty unique so I’m glad I did read it.

The writing was okay but I the author explaining the similes/ metaphors used and kinda took away the point of using them. Also it felt a bit rushed at parts like we went from oh they’re friends cool to oh now we’re instantly in love and idk I just woulda liked more buildup!

The characters, the setting, the CHEMISTRY! This was IT!

I enjoyed this so fucking much I can't express it, it was amazing. I love a second chance romance and my god did this keep me on my toes, all the tension and the dynamics between the character seriously gave me a thrill. The only thing I wish was that this was longer! Not because there was any pacing issues, just that I wanted to spend more time with the characters!

I think this seriously just worked so well, Diego was a really interesting MC with a lot of thought put into how they interacted with Maddox and how their back story came into play in the main story, I just loved it all. The characters dynamics were seriously so good and the overarching plot worked really well in conjunction with the romance! Also I hope we get more of Valentine in the main series pleaseeeee! (Also you don't have to have read the main series for this, so please please pick it up!)

Anyway an easy 5* for me! I had to stop myself from reading this all in one go!

Ohhhh this was fun, fresh, had allllll the moments I wanted from it…it really felt like old paranomal YA and I had a lot of fun!

I feel like I just devoured this so fast! I LOVED the brothers, the dual POV’s between Aaron and Kimberly were really fun to go between and the lore of the vampires in this one was really different and interesting! I can see where stuffs been pulled from TVD and Twilight but I think that just added to the fun a bit for me because vampire media has always been my thing! I can’t wait for the next one, I need to know what happens next honestly! (I ALSO NEED A KISS SCENE PLEASE GOD MY HEART I’M SO INVESTED IN THIS DISASTER ROMANCE AND I DONT EVEN LIKE ROMANCE )

I feel like i've said this about a few books lately but my GOD was that a fresh Vampire take! It was so unique and chilling and just downright enthralling I couldn't stop reading!

The writing was great, I lovedddd the dual timelines, the lore was just really interesting and different...I just loved this a whole lot. It was just the right amount of unsettling and fucked up, I really enjoyed it.

I'm so glad we're getting some truly unique stories about vampires again FINALLY! READ THIS!

“Early 2010’s paranormal fiction” vibes, writing and all. “ is what I said in my review for the first book in this series and yeah that still holds up with the second one.

Again it wasn’t BAD and the plot was interesting, the ideas were PROMISING(!), it’s just the writing throwing me off. The switch from 1st to 3rd between POV’s is still as jarring as ever and the writing just didn’t do the actually fun and interesting ideas justice? It’s a lot of “here’s us repeating the same x happened before monologue” and “this is what happened”, very tell not show?

Anyway 3* like the last one and I probably will pick up a further sequel just because it’s an easy read and it did keep me entertained for a few hours.
