i love ahb's writing as always, but something about this one felt slightly off. maybe i'm not the biggest fan of a christmas love story.
something about the two leads felt like they didn't fit together as well as in her other novels. i'm not so sure.

this could easily be 5 stars but for some reason i cannot take the word plasm seriously. one of the only recent novels i've read that captures the unreliable narrator tone of dark academia perfectly. huzzah, elisabeth thomas.

i commend burton on her ability to write realistically pretentious teenagers. i wish it was written in first person; it would've encapsulated that isolated boarding school cult vibe a bit better in my opinion.
