Legends : Short Novels By The Masters Of Modern Fantasy by Robert Silverberg, Robert Silverberg
3.0
King: 4/5 - I read a lot of his horror novels in high school, and "The Little Sisters of Eluria" definitely kindled my interest in his Dark Tower saga.
Pratchett: 4/5 - I remember reading a Discworld novel in high school (again), but I didn't enjoy it that much. Fortunately "The Sea and Little Fishes" made me want to give it another try.
Goodkind: 1/5 - And one wonders why fantasy is widely considered a genre for adolescents…
Card: 1/5 - See above.
Silverberg: 4/5 - Very intriguing. "The Seventh Shrine" made me very curious about Majipoor.
Le Guin: 1/5 - See the comments above about children stories.
Williams: 3/5 - I read the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy (guess when) in high school, and years later the Otherland saga, which I enjoyed immensely more and I consider far more mature. "The Burning Man" isn't bad, just not very intense…
Martin: 5/5 - Even though I had already read it somewhere else, it was good to taste the first of Dunk and Egg's adventures once again.
McCaffrey: 1/5 - See the comments above about children stories, replace children with little girls… /*rolleyes*/
Feist: 1/5 - I found the Riftwar saga childish when I was a teenager, now I'd venture to call it fit for kindergarten.
Jordan: 5/5 - Another classic… Such fond fond memories…

Mollo dopo 88 faticosissime noiosissime ridicolissime pagine.

Not badly written, but far too childish for my taste. I'm abandoning it at page 106.

So, it wasn't simply bad writing: it's a bad story as well.
Mediocre until the end, when it gets far worse, I might say pathetic.
And the sad thing is, the author probably thought himself astute and cunning.
As I said above, pathetic.
