While this is a topic I love, I did find the information and analysis here to be pretty basic - if you know nothing about Greek mythology, and little about queer theory, then it’s probably very informative. For someone more knowledgeable on both subjects, however, it didn’t really go into the depth I’d hoped.

As someone with a huge interest in the Franklin Expedition, when I first heard this book was coming out I was really amused to see that Graham Gore had become a romantic protagonist. But gosh, this book is just…stunning. Such an original concept, incredible characters written with such depth, and such a challenging look at power and government. I really hope it continues to get the praise and attention it so rightly deserves.

(and, as a bonus - I’m delighted to think it might get the story of the expedition out to more people!)
