I was a little disappointed in this book. Lije Baley bumbles around a lot, spending more time resenting his robot partner. It's less a mystery and more a SF story about one man accepting robots and rejecting his society. As an awakening, it's an interesting story, but as a mystery, it's bland. I also struggled with Jessie, the only female character. Even keeping in mind when the book was written and the attitudes of the time, I still didn't like her. She's a flat character and not very likable.
