I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. Dark, thrilling, endearing. One of my favorites of the year!

I will say there isn't a breakthrough in momentum until quite aways in. But the slow build-up and parallels drawn between characters and timelines are crucial components to the payoff you receive near the end.

If you feel like giving up, DON'T. Give it a chance. The ingredients of this book are secretly very deadly. ;)

Like many of the books I have read this year, this one doesn't really pick up in momentum until about halfway through, but as soon as it did It was impossible to put down.

I think the inner dialogue is very realistic. I felt embarrassed for some of these characters. I felt embarrassed for myself. Exposed for my own ignorance and white privilege.

***SPOILER***

I felt a very deep attachment to the heroine even though she very rarely shows her emotions, and her narrative is very forwardly controlled by the people around her.

An educational experience for me. I will definitely read it again.
