Indigo Ridge by Devney Perry

I wish I could do half stars because this is probs a 3.5⭐️ for me. I found the pacing to be pretty consistent and it definitely kept me engaged. I felt like the plot lines were decently balanced and the mystery piece surprisingly kept me guessing up until the end. I enjoyed the characters overall but they did tend to feel a little flat. There wasn’t a ton of development beyond Winn becoming chief and Griff becoming a relationship man. Just felt a little lazy in terms of characterization. Didn’t love the cop aspect buuuut the town was super cute and I dig the hot cowboy vibes. The romance was sweet, but pretty much all closed-door which was disappointing (and a bit surprising given some of the language used in the narration, especially Griff’s). Overall pretty cheesy (especially the epilogue), but sweet. Just felt like it was missing a little something for me in terms of complexity. Not sure that I’ll continue the series because the next book is a single mom FMC and that’s not my jam. Would recommend for a quick, sweet, relatively fast read. (PSA that suicide is a big theme as the FMC is investigating some as police chief.)

this is for the girlies who wish criminal minds was a romance and i’m genuinely not sure what the fresh fuck I just read. it’s Scary Spice as opposed to Sporty, Baby, Posh, or Ginger, and is entirely unhinged.

I loved this!!! Def more of a wartime book, not so much romance/tension in this one. I enjoyed the Fey storyline a lot. Felt like the first half of the book dragged on a little bit (wartime activities mainly) but once things started happening?!? DANG they started happening!!! Shit goes DOWN. Some cool revelations and use of alternate POVs, I had a feeling that something was coming and I was sort of on-track, but most of it was still a good reveal, especially one piece at the very end. I still really enjoyed the characters. Some are very much themselves and are hardheaded in their ways, others show development, and others simply shocked me but not in a good way. In my heart this is a 5 star read, but i’m gonna make it 4 just because the pacing didn’t feel as consistent as in book 1.

I LOVED THIS. the characters were great, the pacing was consistent, and there was just the right amount of romance. at some points I found myself a little confused as to what was happening with respect to the magic, but it did all get explained. this had major throne of glass vibes and I am so glad I found this series!

really enjoyed this and am sad it’s over. felt like the pacing was a little tricky as things seemed to wrap up super fast and i’m not fully convinced there aren’t plot holes. but I loved the love triangle and the side characters were lots of fun

book itself was good but i’m pissed off by the plot because it didn’t happen the way I wanted it to

Really enjoyed this series. Overall it felt like it was paced okay; I sort of felt like a lot of the main conflicts were wrapped up in the first 50% of this book and that the author was kind of scrambling for a half a book's worth of content. Some of the events toward the end felt cheesy and forced with there not being resolution for everything. Why bring it up? Also why did the spice get worse throughout the series??? We get a few good scenes and then it's all just fade to black in the last half of the book?? Seems unfair. Anyway, I still can't get past the fact that all the princes are literally called by the name of their sin but whatever. Also Vittoria was annoying as fuck. All in all it kept me entertained and I still enjoyed it more than I was annoyed by it.

I liked this. I do think the pacing could have been more consistent and the story could have been better constructed (felt repetitive), but overall I enjoyed it.
