I had a hard time figuring out how to rate and review this book. The subject matter was awful, but real, and important. It was well written, and the story was compelling. I wanted to stop reading many times (and almost did after chapter 3) but I needed to know how it ended. I can’t say that I enjoyed this in any sense of the word, but I do think it was worth a read. In the future though, I will be staying far away from splatterpunk.

This was a great read! It took me a little while to get into it, longer than I would normally give a book to pull me in, but holy crap the pay off in the like last 25% of the book is so worth it. HOLY CLIFFHANGER BATMAN. I need book two yesterday.

This was a fun read! Less twisty and surprising than I feel like Freida’s books usually are, but still satisfying.

This was hard to read, but in a good way. It didn’t grip me as much as I’d hoped but it was still enjoyable.

I wanted so badly to love this the way I’ve seen others but to me it was solidly just okay. Not a bad mood, but not gripping the way I wanted. I found the characters to be kind of flat and the ending made me roll my eyes.

The writing wasn’t horrible but the plot felt jumpy and disconnected. I wish I would have known this was a spinoff series before starting it. I feel like the author wrote this assuming you’d read the other series first so if you haven’t, like me, it felt very jumbled and was hard to make sense of some of the character interactions.
