I absolutely loved this book. It's so hard to get a good balance of story telling and world building in a standalone, but I feel like this one did a good job. Some say the story dragged for them, but for me it captured me from the 1st page. My first 5 star read for 2025!

I had a good time reading this book, I just wish there was more world building. I was confused when creatures were mentioned, but I knew nothing about them. I know there's a fine line between TOO much world building and getting the story going, but this is an instance I wish I had a little more world building. All in all I really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait for the next one!

I struggled to get into this book due to the pacing. It's broken down into 4 parts, and the first 2.5 were very slow, setting up the world and characters. In the last half, it picked up and whoo that ending! I'll be starting book 2 soon.
