yall this is the rivals to lovers BLUEPRINT!!!!!! nothing will ever fill the hole finishing this book leaves me with.
——
cant stop thinking about them🤭🤭
——
this book SHOCKED me to say the least. i was not expecting to love this even half as much as i ended up doing so.
it was hilarious and beautiful and full of angst and made my heart ache so much. it was so much fun to watch their relationship grow and evolve over the years.
ilya and shane are one of my new favorite couples for sure. needless to say, i cannot freakin WAIT to read the continuation of their story in The Long Game. from what reviews i’ve read so far, it doesn’t seem like an unnecessary extension, so i’m excited to see what they’ve been up to🥰🥰🥰

yall i was soooo excited for this. so fucking excited. there were a lot of things i loved. the spice was amazing, i thought it did a really great job of depicting addiction, the side characters were so lovable, i learned a LOT about judaism, and it was very heart warming at times.
BUT there were a lot of things i was side eyeing too…
- they are student/teacher and they hook up the day before the first day of classes, don’t know who the other is, tale as old as time. the author tried to circumvent the predatory behavior of making wyatt teach the women he fucked and wants to fuck again by having him basically force her to drop his class. WHICH, might i add, was the only reason why she enrolled at the school to begin with. and on top of that, neither of them told the admin so it was still treated like a dirty little secret but wrapped in a bow and presented to me like it was the Right Thing to Do
- the things wyatt said to ely at the end were sooo unforgivable i cannot even put it into sufficient words. i was fucking furious listening to what he said and he BARELY even fucking apologized. the author made ely so fucking heartbroken and ashamed to the point that she was literally hiding at school (victim behavior imo) and then suddenly did a 180 and flirted w him hardddd at the end of year capstone gallery thing and out of nowhere he was just like i love you lol and she was like me too lol and he was like sorry lol and she was like let’s leave rn so we can fuck. EXCUSE ME???? shut the fuck up
- i didn’t think the two MCs should end up together…………….. and i don’t think they’ll last past the end of the book. they’re not good for each other. nothing was resolved other than wyatt acknowledged he was selfish and used ely to make him feel better about himself. nothing fucks me up more than a man that can’t decide what he wants from you and will just screw with your head until you feel crazy. please go fuck yourself to hell.
- not a big fan of overly religious stories even though it was def cool to learn about the different branches of judaism. just kind of annoying as an atheist to read about it a lot.
- ELY BASICALLY MADE A GIRL OD AND DID NOT GO TO JAIL?????????????????????(
- wyatt was very much not a himbo……..
