another banger. another banger by Kayla Miller.

Growing up, I had more scenarios like in Clash than scenarios where I got along and clicked with people. I think a story like this really rounds out an empty space in the Click universe's themes and it is REALLY appreciated. I also have gotten such an appreciation for the way that Kayla Miller uses Olive's mom and aunt to show different outlooks and approaches to problem solving. Both have merit, and it's important to consider both.

Also, I really love the odds and ends sections these books have! Clash includes a bit about making costumes secondhand, and some easy ideas. We LOVE sustainability.

I ATE THIS UP and there were no crumbs left

The pacing was soooo good!!!! Also the ending is left ambiguous but to me it was ambiguous in a β€œI can imagine the future for them and I’m happy with that” and not an unsatisfied way. I feel like some references were lost on me (part of why I want to buy this for myself now) and some of the transitions between past, present, thoughts and reality were a little bit difficult to get as a reader, but it never took me so far out that I felt like I wanted to put it down.

I also love the way this so genuinely portrays the experimental/figuring things out phase of being queer.

meh? confusing, not well paced, and so. much. filler. this thing is so thick and it would be significantly thinner is there wasn't so many random things added!! I didn't understand the main story so why are we talking about side characters rn??

It was cool, but... meh? Was not for me. Like why was one of the crew members in his underwear backstage? no... just not for me.

A short and sweet story of a girl visiting her grandparents and struggling with anxiety and a language barrier. It was very short, but very sweet, and the resources at the end were a nice touch.

Currently reading through Keum Suk Gendry-Kim's works, this was the first. It was ok? It felt confusing to me to follow what was going on at times.
