despite it's unusually large length, I read through it like my life depended on it.
- and it was good, but the last 100 pages or so just didn't sit right with me
Josh felt brutish and cruel and for the first time since I started reading this type of novels I despised a character. I felt like what he did to her went beyond hurt, and deep into my soul, if not hers.

Weird feeling after finishing a book. But what can I say, I understand the hype around this series now :)

a bit mediocre. even though it was good it isn't a book worth getting a copy of.
I like romance books but this felt so badly written, especially in the first part. The dialog had such an unnatural ring to it at times that it made me zone out; but I enjoyed some parts of the book and I am definitely glad that I've read it

I found the book underwhelming and incredibly average.
I wonder if the translation let this novella down... It was written in base American 'movie' English and at times felt like a teenager had written it. The story follows a very dull and astonishingly self-centered 30 year old man who makes a deal with the Devil making things disappear one at a time for an extra day of life. In the course of this he indulges in much trite and repetitive musings on things like time(who could have believed that clocks are a human-made construct?!), mobile phones (the almighty "they limit our great potential but on the other hand they're kinda useful") and cats (pretty self-explanatory)
I felt like the story didn't have any character, nor the characters any personality.

"Can their prayers and their tears be fruitless? Can love, sacred, devoted love, not be all too powerful? Oh, no! No matter how passionate, sinning, rebellious is the heart hidden in the grave, the flowers growing on it look at us serenely with their innocent faces; they speak to us but only of that eternal peace, of that great peace of 'impassive' nature; they speak to us also of eternal reconciliation and of life everlasting..."
