I was instantly drawn into this book. Having never watched the film or seen much about it in the way of plot, I went in mostly blind.
I usually don't read sci-fi. It's not really my thing, and I find it often tends to be written in an overcomplicated way. I didn't find that with this book at all however; in fact I thought it was beautifully written. Some of the descriptions were so well done that I had to take a moment to just...contemplate.
The horrors of HAL were told so perfectly that it all gave me chills, and that is one thing I won't be forgetting in a hurry.
Honestly I can't say that I completely 100% understood every single thing that was going on, but that wasn't really an issue. I loved this book. I already want to read it again, and I just finished it 20 minutes ago.

Okay so...I liked the general plot. And I did want to find out what happened. But there wasn't a whole lot else I did like.
- The writing itself felt very basic
- Most chapters were too short to be immersive
- The time jumps were all over the place, I struggled to keep up at times
- I hated literally all of the characters
- Felt like every chapter ended on a really mediocre cliffhanger or rhetorical question and it got SO annoying- imagine almost every chapter ending with a variation of 'and then something happened that would change everything forever...' and you'll get a good idea of what it was like
- Okay, there's drawing out a reveal for dramatic effect, and then there's just dragging and dragging it out until it gets boring
- It just kept building!! It's like the author was just trying to add as much drama as they could possibly fit in, and it did not work at all
- The 'reveal' was so predictable by the time it occurred because of just how certain characters were painted

I don't think this book quite lived up to the hype, and it did take me a good few chapters to properly get immersed in it, BUT I did end up loving it. Miller has a way of making everything feel so real and so immediate, that you can't help but get swept up. I loved Circe as a character; actually, I loved how all the characters were portrayed, and can't find fault in that aspect.
Of all the men that Circe ended up loving (/liking??) none of them hit quite as hard as Daedalus. The way their time together was told made me ache for them. They deserved more time!!
Honestly anyone with an interest in Greek mythology and retellings should definitely read this. I think it's one that will stay with me for a while.
