DNF at 490
soooo sad to DNF this as I absolutely adored the first book in the series, but man this one just did not hit the same. I think there was just too many moving parts to this one, with the humans and the spiders AND the octopuses AND the alien virus???? It was a lot for my mind and unfortunately I was reading it across many smaller sittings so I found myself getting lost frequently. Maybe I’ll come back to it later :)

It's OK to be Angry About Capitalism by Bernie Sanders
3.5
Although repetitive at times, this was a great comprehensive overview on the pitfalls of capitalism as it exists currently. I wasn’t expecting a good chunk of the book to be dedicated to simply summarizing Sanders’ 2016 and 2020 campaigns but they were still enjoyable sections.
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng
4.5
Thought this was a strong novel. Premise was interesting - though not very ‘imaginative’ considering how close it is to our own reality. The ending fell kind of flat for me, and there were certain aspects that I would have liked more detail on, but overall I had a great time reading :)
Arrival (Originally published as Stories of Your Life and Others) by Ted Chiang
3.0
Honestly, most of these stories were just OK. Story of Your Life was definitely the strongest and I can see why it was adapted into Arrival. Otherwise the collection fell kind of flat for me. I struggle with short stories because I really want to know more about the world that’s being created; the stories don’t have enough depth. For me, Exhalation is the stronger collection of the two.
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
4.5
wow wow wow!! so incredible. definitely not an easy read, i found the Adam Ewing sections challenging and the format takes getting used to, but the stories are all unique and they are connected to each other quite well. i think i would enjoy re-reading this one.

Not a bad short story collection, some hit and miss but most of them interesting enough to grab my attention.
