I found the most interesting and well written parts of this memoir to be the beginning, where RuPaul writes about his childhood, and the ending, when he writes about the person he eventually became. I was really impressed with his evolution and I wished he'd focused some more on the person he was after he became an older adult, rather than only the journey that led him to change. That person seems really fascinating.

Magical book written in blood. What's not to love? This book was spooky and I was all about it.

Highly recommend! I borrowed the audio version of this book from the library, but I am going to purchase the print version because there is so much I want to be sure I can remember and refer back to. There was so much information in here that I wasn't aware of. This book managed to be devastating, educational, humorous, and inspiring all at once. The author was very knowledgeable about American history and wasn't afraid to tell it like it is.

This book was ridiculous, but in a good way. The ending was spectacular, a total gore-fest. I don't like reality shows, so the silliness was a good fit for me.

It hurt to read about the struggles of a mother and daughter who come to the U.S. from Hong Kong and wind up in a sweat shop. They suffer so much injustice in silence. I have to wonder how often that really happens. It also makes me question where my clothes are coming from. I respected Kimberly's choices. It was a sad book, but it was good.
