A lot of long, slow buildup, for the climax to be about 10 pages and not very satisfying. Felt remarkably pandering in general and incredibly performative in a way I didn’t enjoy, and really felt like it leaned into stereotypes. It oversimplified the relationship between Native Americans and their white counterparts. From a structure standpoint, the characters were dull and underdeveloped, the plot slow and meandering with no real detail that built tension, and then speeding through things (like relationship building) that might’ve made it better. Characters were one dimensional, and writing was elementary at best. Cool concept - bad execution.

EXCELLENT book about a Marine officer. Talking about an oft-ignored part of the Iraqi campaign and humanizes the guys boots on the ground. Phenomenal.

A hell of a good time - an incredibly violent, totally bizarre indie horror, with a very atmospheric vibe. Super quick read, and incredibly fun - definitely recommend!

This might actually be the most psychologically fucked book I have read in a WHILE. Ate it UP.

This… felt poorly researched and edited, to say the least. And even vaguely offensive, at certain parts? Just. Eugh.

This is a great book with a great message, and I would like it more if Frankenstein wasn’t such an insufferable and disgusting human being.

Truly an INCREDIBLE anthology - some made me laugh, some made me cry, and there were no true lows to be found.

I ate this the fuck up, I won’t even lie. This was so good. I didn’t even mind the history textbook style of writing.

The vibes of this book are IMMACULATE. It’s a little slow to get into, at first, but by god, this is the perfect mix of gothic horror, fantasy, romance, and mythology to me. Ava Reid, they could never make me hate you.
