We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter
5.0
I have read a number of WWII/Holocaust books, but I’ve never read a story like this. I was invested from the start and caught myself laughing, crying, praying, and holding my breath with the characters until the very end. This unbelievable true story should be read by anyone who values family, strength, perseverance, and determination. I never thought a book on the holocaust would make me so happy and filled with hope, but here we are. The authors family was truly lucky.

This book had an interesting premise and was overall a good story about stories, but there were many things I found to be predictable. It was only the first and last few chapters that I found to be rather unpredictable. But it was overall an enjoyable read.

I loved this book, and all of its twists and turns. Very excited to continue with the series, Lara is a beautifully flawed character and I hope that she can atone for her mistakes.
