Mind Games by Nora Roberts
4.25
Book #63 read in 2024
This book required a little suspension of disbelief as it dipped into the paranormal realm. That being said, it was an amazing story. Thea was such a dynamic character, and her grandmother, Lucy, had my heart. This is a signature Nora Roberts romantic suspense, and I was here for every minute. The ending was a bit far-fetched, but I appreciated how it resolved. Add this one to your list!

The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
4.0
Book #62 read in 2024
Christina Lauren always writes fun dialogue, flirty interactions, and decent steam. This book is no exception. It's not really a fake dating book, as the characters are married, but it's definitely not a traditional marriage. Both Anna and Liam have reasons for trying to convince their families they are happily married, and it leads them to question if they can actually make it work for real. This is a great summer read!

Love You, Mean It by Jilly Gagnon

Book #61 read in 2024
A quintessential when fake dating goes wrong trope, I fell in love with Ellie and Theo from the very beginning. Their interactions were so fun, and the supporting characters just enhanced the book. If you want to read a fun, feel-good book, this is for you!

The Last Time She Saw Him: A Novel by Kate White

Book #60 read in 2024
I had high expectations for this book. I liked the premise, and the first chapter hooked me. However, the suspense was merely average. There was not a lot of excitement surrounding the mystery, and things developed too slowly for my liking. I do love this author, though, and if you are looking for a slow-burn thriller, this would be the one for you.

Public Anchovy #1 by Mindy Quigley

This was such a fun cozy mystery. It took all the characters to a fundraiser at an isolated mansion and threw in a murder in a snowstorm, effectively trapping everyone, including the murderer, in the mansion. Locked-door mysteries are one of my favorite tropes, and this was done so well.

A Smoking Bun: A Bakeshop Mystery by Ellie Alexander

This is a new-to-me cozy series, and I really liked it. However, jumping in at the 18th book, I missed a lot in the backstory. I enjoyed the setting, characters, and mystery, so I bet I would have liked it even more if I had started from the beginning.

Patchwork Quilt Murder by Leslie Meier

I always like when these books are set in Tinker's Cove instead of on location somewhere because I really enjoy the supporting cast of characters. This book had a lot of sadness in it, which I didn't really expect from this series, so that threw me a little. But overall, I'm still enjoying the series.

Four-Alarm Homicide by Diane Kelly

I love Diane Kelly's Mountain Lodge Mystery series, so I grabbed this one even though I haven't read the previous books in the series. While I do feel I missed some of the backstory, I was able to quickly learn the characters and also love them. This was a great cozy mystery, and I will find time to go back and read the ones I skipped!

Miss Morgan's Book Brigade by Janet Skeslien Charles

While I don't usually choose historical fiction books, I love books about librarians. It is told in dual timelines: 1918, where we follow Jessie "Kit" Carson as she fights to establish children's libraries during wartime, and 1987 when Wendy Peterson discovers Jessie and tries to learn what happened to her. I really loved the 1918 timeline, but didn't connect so much with the 1987 one. Maybe it was that I listened to this on audio, and maybe it was the timing of the book in my life. This is one that I feel historical fiction lovers would really enjoy.

Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle
4.75
Book #52 read in 2024
This book gave me all the feelings. I have several of Serle's books on my shelf but haven't gotten around to reading any of them. I'm glad this was my first. The touch of magical realism was what set it apart from other books I've read. I really enjoyed the friendship between Daphne and Hugo. He was the only one who knew about the relationship expiration dates, and it was clear how much he cared for Daphne. The story unfolded exactly how I had hoped. I definitely need to go back and read more from this author.
