I loved the vulnerability of this book, but I've been in therapy for 8+ years so it felt like reading transcripts out of a Therapy 101 book.

I felt deeply present and unbearably human reading this book. Gorgeous.

I love seeing Black fantasy characters who speak like Black people! Great dialogue. Relationships could've used more fleshing out...it was all quite rushed but that seems to be common for romance.

Couldn't be convinced to care about the character's story even though she's very complicated herself.

Collins remains one of the greatest dystopian writers of our generation. Couldn't put this down from start to finish.

a fantastic debut novel. a Black sugar baby with religious trauma is such a great concept and it's pulled off with nuance and without shame. the writing style is one I had to warm up to, by now I can't wait to read anything else this author writes.

stunning, but some parts felt like they moved too fast, while others moved too slowly. mostly it was enjoyable to read and I'm pleased with this conclusion!

I went into reading this book kind of wanting to be told how to correct those who wrong me, and I was lovingly corrected on that mindset throughout. it's not a self-help book in the slightest. I finished it with more questions, but in a way I'm so grateful for. I have a lot to lovingly correct myself on before (while?) I focus on how to turn that outwards. grateful for this!

One of the most enjoyable books I've read in years. Simply easy, relatable, sweet, and captivating.
