I want to leave a more detailed review, especially given the whole premise of the damned book, but I just finished the audiobook a literal minute ago and I need some TIME to digest the experience.

Listening to John Green read this book felt like he reached up, cracked open his skull, let me peek at the fleshy, raw, sincere parts inside, and then asked if I recognized myself in there, too. I rate The Anthropocene Reviewed five stars.

Nothing wrong with this book - it’s actually really good and well written. The subject matter just ended up being too much for me emotionally right now. I to come back to it later.

I generally like weird books that are meandering or don’t have a real plot, but this just completely lost me at the narrator trying to describe Minecraft.

A good intro to investing for someone who knows very little. I appreciated the mini interviews of different investors at the end of each chapter. I didn’t appreciate the shoehorned-in comparisons of investing concepts to skincare, boys, etc - I get that this is an investing book aimed at women, but I found the sections about sexism and glass ceilings a lot more helpful and relatable. Those lines really didn’t fit and, by the end of the audiobook, I was yelling at the author to stop talking down to me. Still, I wouldn’t not recommend it, so there’s that.

I’d recommend getting the physical book instead, though, to get the most out of the quizzes and questionnaires.
