a great read! olalla was my favorite and i find rob is at his best when he gets to describe a bit of nature, and i would love to read more gothic works by him.

well that’s over. i had hoped through writing a series koontz would avoid his unfortunate habit of dragging everything out and then ending the book in about 10 pages but it did happen yet again. but hey it was nice to see brother knuckles!

this was lovely, albeit difficult to get into and grating to pick up at times. incredible descriptions of nature (as to be expected) and a genuinely fascinating story but damn do they linger on minute details

unfortunately this didn’t really click for me, some of the poems were breathtaking yet others felt like a thesaurus of pretentious words shoved together :(

definitely the weakest of the series so far, i found this to feel like a bit of a cop out. at several points dean seems unable to describe the violence when in prior books it was the norm to the point where i wonder if it was a publishing company issue. nearly all of the scenes with violence end in a cut to black moment with implied death, just strange for a koontz.

this was splendid and i would love nothing more than to give it a 5/5, although i cannot pretend i didn’t notice george’s odd fascination with breast milk. like dude seriously it’s creepy at this point leave my girl alone. but other than that it was incredible, all-consuming, and sooo well thought out, though one thing george does lack is subtlety lol
