I was not prepared with how this book affected me emotionally! The big twist made me gasp out loud, and the ending had me crying. The plot had many layers but was very easy to follow.

I love a book that can make me laugh out loud! The characters were likable, and the interactions between Jenelle and Rome were something else. Just the right amount of drama to keep me entertained!

I have not read the other books in this series, and I think my experience would have been better if I had. There were several references to plots from earlier that I did not connect with.
I thought the story was a little hard to follow in the beginning, but it ended cleanly.
The writing style is really great. Louise Penny also did a great job of reminding me who characters were when referred to later on the story.

This book was so fun! I loved the references to the og story, small and obvious. I just devoured those spicy scenes too!
I wouldn’t say the plot progression and ending was unpredictable, but it wasn’t boring even when the reader knows what is coming.

The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager (audiobook narrated by Bernadette Dunne)
The stand out elements of this novel are the unique story and unexpected twists. Unfortunately, I had a hard time picturing Casey as a woman in her 30s because the mature narrators voice just didn’t match the character. I think I would have enjoyed this book more had I read it myself.

I enjoyed the writing style and the imagery throughout the novel. The unreliable narrator aspect was a great revelation.
As for the plot, the twists at the end of this book kept me on the edge! Face blindness is something I had never heard of, but it was a unique aspect throughout. I loved how intricately everything came together at the end.

I really enjoyed this book, especially during the holiday season! The writing was engaging and plot was paced well. Maggie and Ethan are such likable characters. Their interactions with each other were quite cute.
This book checked all the festive, mysterious, and cozy boxes! Highly recommend.

The plot was slow paced and barely held my attention. I will say, there were some cute/funny quotes and interactions between characters that I did enjoy. Overall, a fine book, just not for me as I prefer plot focused stories which was lacking here.

The story was definitely unique, and the killer’s identity was unpredictable which I enjoyed. Parts were challenging for me to follow, and I also had a hard time picturing the puzzle pieces when they were described in detail. I think this is a good Christmas time book as Christmas was a theme throughout.
