The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen

Confused why more people aren’t reading and talking about it?!

Lyra was the perfect MC she was not only sassy with Hades but ALL of the Gods. It was hilarious and kept things interesting.

The Crucible aka games to decide who is next God of the Gods were perfectly paced and action packed. I had anxiety for the duration of each 🫠 ITS FINE

And the banter and tension between Lyra and Hades? 😩🤭 I couldn’t handle it.

The side characters were just as great as the main characters. There is a character introduced about half way through that had me giddy af. I’m not going to say more bc I want everyone to have the same surprised giddy moment that I had when they meet them!!

We will not be discussing the end. I’m pretending it doesn’t exist tysm. I need book two immediately!!!!

I might come back to this later but right now it feels boring and bleak. The writing feels clunky and confusing. 🫠 idk!!! I might be too dumb for this one

I loved this but I didn’t end up loving it as much as I thought I would after the glimpse of Jax and Sasha at the end of Crossroads.

I didn’t feel connected to Sasha whatsoever, I just felt annoyed with her most of the time. I love the way Devney weaves the mystery of “who is this person” from their past throughout the books but this one didn’t work for me. I think had it been revealed much sooner and delved into more then I would have felt more of a connection to Sasha. Everything just felt so surface level. Especially when Jax was baring his heart the entire time, like damn girl give him SOMETHING.

Other than that I loved being back at Haven River Ranch and catching back up with the characters. I hope we aren’t done with this series bc there are two couples mentions that I very much would love to read about! 🤞🏼
This Book Will Bury Me by Ashley Winstead

What a ride. I didn’t read the synopsis before grabbing so it was a fun surprise that this was a book within a book. It reads exactly like a juicy tell all memoir. The beginning is a little slow and drawn out but around 40ish% it takes off and doesn’t stop. You definitely have to suspend belief for it all to work but I didn’t mind because I was heavily vibing 😂 I did have it mostly figured out around 50% but I was left guessing til almost the end 🙌🏼

This is not a negative, just a comment - Winstead is typically heavy on the social commentary but it is very toned down in this book which was a nice break. Made for a fun easy read!

Overall: a fun take on true crime internet sleuths

So heartbreakingly beautiful. A perfect coming of age romance. Sarah is so naive but curious and Isaac is the perfect balance to challenge her and bring her out of her shell while being patience with her. I loved every moment and never wanted it to end 🥺

Unbelievably beautiful. I never wanted it to end.

“See me.
See me for who I am. I am magic. I am human. I am inhuman.
See me.
I am a boy. I am a girl. I am everything and nothing in between.
See me.
You do. You see me. You recoil in fear. You scream in anger.
See me.
I bleed. I ache. You see me, and you wish you hadn't. You wish I was invisible.
Out of sight, out of mind. Unseen, faded, muted. You want my color. You want my joy. You want a monochrome world with monachrome beliefs. You see me, and you want to take it all away. But you can't. You want me lost, but I am found in the breaths I take, in the spaces between heartbeats.
I am found because I refuse to be in black and white, or any shade of gray.
I am color. I am fire.
I am the sun, and I will burn away the shadows until only light remains.
And then you will have no choice but to see me.” 🩷
